Midwives Model of Care

Prenatal Visits

Midwives offer a unique model of care called 'The Midwives Model of Care' that is focused on providing personalized attention and support to expectant families. A personalized model of care is essential to ensure that expectant families receive the support they need throughout their pregnancy. This model focuses on providing personalized attention and support to the birthing person, creating a safe and comfortable environment for both the birthing person and baby. Midwives also provide education and information to help empower families to make informed decisions about their pregnancy. The Midwives Model of Care also strives to provide a holistic approach that includes not only physical but also emotional, mental, spiritual, and social well-being. This model has been proven to reduce stress levels in the birthing person, which can have positive effects on the health of both people, and the development of the child.

Blackbird Birthing provides comprehensive and holistic prenatal care that allows us to monitor the health and wellbeing of both you and your baby. Our visits last for 1-2 hours, giving us plenty of time to discuss healthy lifestyles,  provide education, communication and answer any questions you may have. We offer a combination of holistic and alternative modalities such as homeopathy, aromatherapy, herbal solutions and nutrition to keep you and your baby healthy and low-risk. We also provide a “dress rehearsal” at 36 weeks, giving everyone the opportunity to meet your birth team and go through what to expect when you go into labor.

Prenatal visits follow the standard obstetric schedule and you will be seen accordingly:

  • From 0-28 weeks: Monthly

  • From 28-36 weeks: Bi-monthly

  • From 36 weeks until birth: Weekly

My goal is to empower you to make the best decisions for yourself and your family during this special time. Because pregnancy can feel overwhelming, and "pregnancy brain" is a real phenomenon, I am here to provide you the guidance, support, and understanding that you'll need during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

As a midwife, I understand that many questions can come up between appointments. I encourage my clients to save routine questions in their phone until the next appointment. However, for more urgent matters, I am always available by email or phone.
